Sunday March 30th Silver Soder

The preheater needed repair.  I got a photo of Don sodering some copper pipe, and decided to apply a focal black and white effect.  He fools with the tools, I fool with the photo.

Monday, March 17th Photography and Patching

"It will never cease to amaze me that, with all the billions of images now digitally stored online, no two photographs taken by two different people at different times will ever be identical. It could well be the same scene or subject but the angle of view, composition, light and other variables will all ensure that that particular photograph is truly unique. Knowing this and the fact that you have captured a moment in time and space never to be repeated makes photography the fascinating and exciting hobby that it is.

The natural world provides so much beauty to be captured. The human world provides a wonderful assortment of characters and cultures. The things we see and have taken for granted in our everyday lives suddenly take on a new feeling, beauty and meaning when we view them through a lens. Our camera is the only tool which allows us to share with others the beauty and creativity our mind can see in the physical world we witness.

There is no destination, only a journey and an endless endeavor to create the next image you can be truly proud of. The era of digital photography allows us to capture endless moments in time with ease without fear of increasing cost. The traditional darkroom, replaced by computer software, allows us to unleash our creative potential to greater levels than ever before.

This is why I love photography." Dave Carter (an online photography blogger)

I thought I'd share that quote in case you ever start to wonder why I keep putting up a photo every single day.

Wednesday, March 5 Sabots

Today, Mom handed down to me these wooden shoes that her uncle had brought back from France during WWI, where he served on the front lines.  She told me these shoes are called 'sabots'.  She went on to explain that the word sabotage came from the name for these shoes because during the Industrial Revolution workers would through their 'sabots' into the gears of the machinery for fear that the machines were going to take over their jobs.  Guess they were right to fear that.

Monday, March 3 A Visit to UVM Greenhouses

I am  testing the viability of the 85 plus packets of last year's, and the year's before and the year's before, seeds before I go buying anymore.  In a couple of weeks I'll see what's sprouted and what's a dud.
Meanwhile, I enjoy the green and warmth of the greenhouse.  Here are a few photos of some of their plants.
