Wednesday, January 29th Waiting

Do you suppose this is how Walter spends his days until Mo comes home from work?  This is how I found him when I stopped off to deliver a few things to the house before Mo was home.

Sunday, January 26th The Turkeys Want In

While sitting in the den, watching the hockey game, the turkey's make an appearance at the window.  Do they want in out of the cold?  or just to watch the hockey game?

Saturday, January 28th Back Home

Walter is so glad to see Maurine after she was gone for a week, that you can't even see his tail wagging, even when I have the camera in 'sports' mode!

Wednesday, January 22 Day 5 at Sanibel

We took a trip off the island today to visit The Edison Ford Estate and Museum.  We toured the beautiful grounds and were able to look into the rooms of the estate.

After we worked up an appetite walking around there we went to Chile Ranchero's for lunch.  It was a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant, and we were the only patrons at 3 in the afternoon.  The food was delicious!

Saturday, January 18th Shells and Sun at Sanibel

Dale, Mo and I have arrived at Sanibel Florida for a week's vacation. After settling into our house and grocery shopping, we were able to grab a few minutes on the beach at sunset before heading out to dinner.  It's going to be a great week for shell shopping!

Friday, January 17th. The Parkway is Back!

The Parkway Diner used to be an old favorite and a dependable go-to for breakfast.  Then about 6 years ago it was bought, and got a new name, The Acadia.  It went downhill and we stopped going.  But about 4 months ago it was sold again, and this time bought by someone who wanted to get it back to it's good 'ole Parkway character, only a litte updated and improved. Well...they did it!  It's just really good, quintessential diner food.  The service was great, the coffee hot, and good and frequent, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the toast golden, and the homefries were perfect.  Breakfast Clubbers will definitely go there again!

Saturday, January 11th Water Colors

A steady, hard, all day rain kept my photography indoors looking out.
The colors were muted but beautiful
For some reason, the turkeys decided to stand outside in the rain all day.  They must not be the brightest birds on the block.  Or...they had been cooped up from the cold so long, even the rain was an improvement.

Friday, January 10th Cold Consequences

The extreme cold lately, caused my junior rooster to get frost bite on his wattle...probably because he is low chicken in the pecking order and he doesn't get into the coop and near the warmth enough.  I did, finally, put some vaseline on his wattle to help a little. You can see the damage on the edges in front of his wattle. He doesen't seem too happy with his situation.
Besides the animals dealing with the cold, so do the rivers and lakes.  Here's some of the ice jamming up on the Winnoski River.  Weekend weather is calling for lots of rain, so I should go back and see what becomes of all this ice.

Another problem....eggs cracking from freezing before I can get around to collecting them.

Monday January 6th Thaw

A one day rain and  thaw has sent the little local streams along Sherman Hollow Road flowing.

Sunday, January 5th Fried

When you're in the deep freeze, the best thing to do is deep fry.  Scott tests out his new Cool Daddy baby deep frier on the clams he dug up along the coast of Maine, and the potatoes he dug up from the Hannaford's bin.
Smell those potatoes fry!

Fresh fried clams

Fries, clams and slaw

One very happy eater!
